It’s hard to find more majestic scenery than the French Alps, the mountains stretching from the Mediterranean to the Rhine along the southeastern border of France. In the winter, skiers flock to legendary resorts – Chamonix, Megève, Val d’Isère and Mont Blanc - the highest peak in western Europe. In the summer, hikers and cyclists take up the mountain challenges. If you have relaxation in mind, visit the spa towns of Evian and Aix-les-Bains. Or make a stop in Annecy, a delightful town with its famous lake and gorgeous views. And be sure to sample the exquisite mountain cheeses, apples, blueberries and fish from local lakes.
