The Alpilles region, with majestic rock formations and charming towns and villages, is among the most popular in Provence. Here you’ll enjoy visiting St-Rémy de Provence, a quintessential Provençal town with a historic town center and full range of shops, restaurants, cafés and a lively open-air market. Nearby are Eygalières, Maussane and the medieval fortress of les Baux. Avignon, Aix-en-Provence and all the sights of Provence are within easy driving distance.
With origins in the 18th century, this old Provençal farmhouse is set in grounds of over 12 acres and just a short drive to village shops and services. No expense has been spared in the renovation and furnishings which include the highest quality building materials, modern appliances, handsome furniture and all conveniences including high-speed internet access.
The park-like grounds feature expansive lawns, fruit and olive trees, tall shade trees, a lavender garden and a variety of native shrubs and flowering plants. Set away from the house behind a long hedge is the large swimming pool surrounded by a stone terrace. And adjacent to the house is a spacious gravel terrace shaded by two magnificent plane trees. There is plenty of lounging and outdoor dining furniture for large groups to relax, socialize and share leisurely outdoor meals.
Inside, the farmhouse has been decorated with great taste and style. Traditional architectural features – from heavy wood-beamed and plaster ceilings to stone fireplaces and terra cotta tile floors – highlight classic furnishings, warm antique pieces and colorful fabrics.
Off the entry to the left is the spacious living room with beamed ceilings. It is light and airy with French doors opening to the graveled terrace and grounds on the south side and a large window on the north side. The room is resplendent with beautiful sofas and chairs upholstered in coral and cream tones grouped by a glass coffee table in front of the stone fireplace. Occasional tables, lamps and works of art complete this gracious room. Adjacent is a den with flat-screen television and additional comfortable seating. An archway from the living room and the den go to a corner study with desk, small table and upright piano.
There are a total of 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, two of which are ensuite. You can choose 5 or 6 bedrooms as you like for your stay. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated with antique pieces as well as pretty curtains, upholstered headboards, lovely bedcovers, fine linens, antique tables and ample wardrobe space. The bathrooms feature white ceramic tilework and fixtures. Three of the bathrooms include American-style tubs with showers, sink and toilet facilities. Two more bathrooms have a shower, sink and toilet.
On the main level off the living room is a bedroom suite with queen bed (the only one with AC), full bathroom and French doors opening to the garden. Also on the ground level at the other end of the house is another queen-bedded room and adjacent bathroom with shower and doors to the garden. Stairs from the entry lead to 5 more bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. One is a queen bedded room with adjacent full bathroom. Up a half flight of stairs are a bedroom with twin beds and another with queen bed. These two rooms share a large bathroom. Up another half flight are two more bedrooms with queen and twin beds respectively. They share another full bathroom with shower.
