This stunning 17th-century vigneron’s house is perfectly located right in the center of Meursault, just a few steps from the main square with its cafes, wine-bars, shops, restaurants and weekly market. It’s also a short drive to the historic and lively city of Beaune, the center of the Burgundy wine industry. The picturesque countryside and renowned wine villages of Nuits St-Georges, Pommard , Santenay and Puligny-Montrachet – to name just a few – are all short drives as well.
An extensive and beautifully renovated property with “la Grande Vigne” (AH129), “La Petite Vigne” (AH133) and “L’Ecurie” (AH134) that can be rented as one for large groups up to 12 or as three individual houses for smaller groups of 2, 4 or 6 people.(contact us for more information about those 2 others properties for rent) It’s the perfect location for exploring Burgundy’s world famous vineyards.
Entering from the gravel courtyard, you are welcomed into the impressive paneled reception hall with its crystal chandelier. The graciously curved stone staircase leads up to the grand salon on the second floor. This long open-planned room features high wood-beamed ceilings and hardwood floors and tall windows with elegant drapes. It is ideal for entertaining and includes sitting and dining areas as well as a full kitchen. At one end is a comfortable sitting area with classic sofa and chairs grouped by the open fireplace. In the center a wood dining table and chairs seats 12 people.
At the other end is a fully equipped gourmet kitchen. Enjoy preparing and plating your meals on the zinc top island work table with inset stone pastry board. The table provides ample space for several cooks to share food preparation or even watch cooking demonstrations. The kitchen is designed for entertaining on a grand scale with a Lacanche oven as the focal point. There is a special double-wide fridge to keep large platters fresh and 2 dishwashers to speed the clearing up at the end!
This space opens onto a long balcony overlooking the courtyard. There is an elevator to take luggage to the upper bedrooms and groceries to the salon level. Separate utility and storage rooms located off the main reception hall at the ground floor make this a very comfortable and practical house for large groups.
There are a total of 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master suite on the third floor enjoys spectacular views over Meursault’s famous vineyards. An antique double bed, golden glass chandelier, antique mirrors, freestanding bath, separate toilet facilities and step down shower, all make this bedroom, a dramatic and memorable experience. Separated from the master suite is a quiet, library/study area with its leather topped desk.
The second bedroom on the top floor is gorgeous, romantic and pink! It is a large single room with its own free standing bath, toilet and sink, antique bed with canopy, golden chandelier, parquet floor and original beams.
The third double bedroom suite, situated on the ground floor has a charming ensuite bathroom with shower and is beautifully decorated with Pierre Frey fabrics and wallpaper, antique furniture, and crystal chandeliers. This room can be optionally rented with the cottage by arrangement.
