Location: 4 kms from Apt, 50 kms east of Avignon

On a gentle slope overlooking the Luberon valley, this 18th-century farmhouse offers the best of country life near Apt, a lively Provençal town. Set in large grounds, the house is surrounded on three sides by wide, stone terraces, a landscaped garden behind and a pretty swimming pool to one side. Nearby are lavender fields and fruit orchards and there are lovely views on villages, valleys, hills and forest. All the shops, restaurants, cafés and delights of Apt, including a bustling weekly open-air market, are just minutes away.
The old farmhouse has been beautifully renovated and features over 4,000 square feet of living space. Traditional accents include heavy-wood beamed ceilings and clay tile floors throughout the home. Furnishings feature antique and contemporary pieces, armoires, chests, oriental carpets, works of art and a variety of colorful fabrics.
Entrance on the ground level is into an enormous open-plan living-dining room and kitchen. At one end is an appealing sitting area with a stylish sofa, easy chairs and large coffee table grouped in front of a large fireplace. In the middle of the room is a state-of-the-art kitchen with professional quality appliances, a wide array of culinary equipment and a granite and wood island.
Opposite the kitchen is a long rectangular wood table seating 12 people. At the other end of the room is a den with a large tan leather sofa, easy chairs, another fireplace, television and music system. Sets of French doors at both ends of the room as well as near the dining area in the middle open to the terraces, grounds and views. Also on this level is a half-bath.
Down several stairs at one end is a small room with an ample library, lap-top computer with broadband Wi Fi internet access, and a single bed suitable for an overnight guest or a child.
There are a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. All of the bedrooms are on the second floor, accessed by staircases at both ends of the main living-dining room. They are light, comfortable and offer valley and mountain views. Each bedroom is decorated with period furniture, pretty linens and bedcovers, curtains, bedside tables with reading lights and generous storage space. Two of the queen bedrooms have ensuite showers and sinks. The other bedrooms share two more bathrooms, one with shower and another with tub-shower. Also on the upstairs level are two separate toilets, allowing easy access for all. On the mezzanine level between the two main floors are another bathroom and separate toilet. The bathrooms are all modern and feature attractive tile work.
