Location: just under 1 km from Maussane, 10 kms south of St-Rémy-de-Provence, 18 kms east of Arles

Nestled at the foot of the majestic Alpilles mountains, Maussane-les-Alpilles is a quintessential Provençal village. Its plane-tree-shaded square is dotted with cafés and restaurants, an ideal vantage point to experience Provençal life. Maussane is also renowned for its olive oil, considered the finest in France and readily available at shops in the village and throughout the region. From Maussane, it's a short drive to some of the most celebrated sights of Provence, including les Baux, St-Rémy and the historic city of Arles.

Located within pleasant walking distance of the village square, this property is built in the best Provençal tradition with pale ocher façade, blue shutters and red tile roof. It is set in large grounds including a lovely cascading swimming pool, a natural garden with an array of flowering plants and shrubs, several outdoor terraces and its own grove of thirty olive trees. The grounds also include a shower and toilet facilities for poolside use and a summer kitchen with sink. With plenty of teak lounging and dining furniture, the terraces are perfect spots for relaxing and enjoying al fresco meals.

Inside the house has undergone recent renovation and features traditional painted beamed ceilings and terra cotta tile floors. Quality appliances and building materials have been used throughout the home. The décor features casual contemporary furnishings with warm antique accents. And for your comfort in warmer months, there are air conditioning units on the main living level.

The entry hall opens to a spacious living-dining room. It is light and airy with pastel walls and French doors opening to two terraces and to the grounds and pool. In the sitting area are two sea-green upholstered sofas and easy chairs grouped around a glass-topped coffee table by the fireplace. Behind is a rectangular wood dining table and cane chairs for 8 people. Antique chests and occasional tables complement this appealing room.

Also off the entry hall is the fully-equipped kitchen with painted wood cabinets, granite counters and all appliances. An archway and counter separates it from the breakfast room with pale green walls and oval wood dining table. French doors from the breakfast area open to another shaded terrace with outdoor dining furniture. Also on this level are a laundry room and toilet facilities.

There are a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Three of the bedrooms are suites with full bathrooms, and the two downstairs rooms are air conditioned. The bedrooms are all decorated with pastel walls, pretty bedcovers, curtains, bedside tables, lamps and chests. The bathrooms are well appointed and nicely tiled. On the ground floor off the living room are two bedroom suites with full bathrooms. Both have king beds convertible to twins. A staircase off the entry hall leads to three more bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is a suite with king bed convertible to twins and full bathroom with American-style tub with shower. The other two bedrooms - one with king bed convertible to twins and another with a queen bed - share a large tiled bathroom with shower and sink. Adjacent on the hall are separate toilet facilities.

A delightful home for groups of families or friends, well-located for excursions throughout Provence.
