Location: Near Buoux, 7 kms from Bonnieux, 7 kms from Apt, 50 kms east of Avignon.

Located in the Provençal countryside, this stone property was home to Peter Mayle while he wrote Toujours Provence. It is set in 180-acre grounds with stunning views of the Luberon mountains and valleys. Buoux is the closest village where you'll find a couple of local restaurants. Nearby are the scenic perched villages of Bonnieux and Saignon as well as the bustling market town of Apt. Also within easy driving distance are all the renowned Luberon hilltop villages and L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, celebrated for its antique dealers and Sunday open-air market.

The spacious grounds surrounding the house include a beautiful garden with large lawns, a variety of trees and landscaped beds with flowering shrubs and native plants. The garden features a swimming pool and a pool house with full bathroom facilities. Adjacent to the house is a large graveled terrace with vine-covered dining area. Whether you're relaxing at the pool or enjoying leisurely al fresco meals, you'll take full advantage of the exceptional country views.

Inside, the house has been designed in fine Provençal tradition featuring heavy wood beamed ceilings and antique terra cotta tile floors. The rooms are open and airy with large windows and white walls. Casual and comfortable, the stylish décor includes contemporary sofas, traditional rattan chairs and benches, all accented with French country tables and wood pieces. Quality fixtures and appliances ensure complete comfort with all conveniences including high-speed internet access.

On the ground level are the spacious and open living areas and kitchen, one leading to the next. At the far end is a lovely living room with fireplace, built-in upholstered sofa with plush cushions and rattan easy chairs. Occasional tables and lamps make this a warm and welcoming spot for curling up with a book or planning the day's touring. Adjacent is the dining room with pretty wood table easily accommodating 10 people, as well as another sitting area with traditional woven benches and chairs set in front of sliding glass doors. These doors open to the outdoor arbored dining area and the marvelous country views.

Beyond the sitting area is the fully-equipped kitchen with ample white laminate counters and cabinets. An antique country table serves as an island and provides additional preparation space.

In the main house, there are a total of 4 bedrooms and three bathrooms. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated with antique tables, chests, lamps, curtains, pretty bedcovers and lovely linens. The bathrooms feature quality fixtures and tiled showers or tubs. Three of the bedrooms - one with twins convertible to king, one queen and a smaller room with twins - are upstairs. The smaller bedroom is most appropriate for children or teenagers. Also upstairs are two bathrooms, one ensuite and another on the hall. On the ground floor are another bedroom with twins convertible to king and a bathroom with shower, sink and toilet facilities nearby on the hall. A fifth bedroom and additional bathroom facilities are located in the pool house, included in rentals from June through September. The pool house bedroom is spacious with comfortable furnishings.

A wonderful Provençal home in a picturesque country setting.

Note: Two-week minimum stay required in high season.

Just a short walk away (10 minutes) and within the same 180-acre property is another stone house for 6 people, Bellevue (AH112). The two properties can be combined to accommodate larger groups of 14/16 people.
