Location: in the village of Limeuil, 7 kms from Le Bugue

This substantial stone house is located in the upper part of the medieval village of Limeuil, classified as one of France's Plus Beaux Villages. The village is set at the confluence of the Dordogne and Vézère rivers, one of the most scenic spots in the region. Be sure to stroll its charming stone streets lined with centuries-old houses. Enjoy an aperitif or casual meal at the riverside café, rent a canoe, or cool off with a swim in the river. Larger towns and villages are all within easy driving distance as are the prehistoric caves and other sights of the region.

The grounds include a stone terrace and delightful walled garden with tall trees, flowering plants and shrubs in the back of the house. It's the perfect spot for outdoor meals and relaxing. Extending along the front is a covered wood porch, providing additional outdoor space.

Inside, the house has been well renovated and combines traditional Perigourdine design with gracious furnishings and all modern comforts and conveniences. It features dark wood floors, decorative fireplaces, large windows, pastel walls and a variety of interesting artwork including antique engravings and paintings.

The entry hall leads to a spacious living room with two upholstered sofas and period armchairs grouped around a coffee table. Wood occasional tables and lamps accent this comfortable room with French doors opening to the wood porch in the front. Adjacent is the den with built-in bookshelves, television and additional seating with French doors opening to the walled garden and terrace. To the left of the entry is the fully-equipped kitchen with blue and white painted tiles, terra cotta tile floor, marble counters and dark wood cabinets. It also opens to the walled garden.

A door from the kitchen leads to the dining room with decorative fireplace, lovely old built-in cabinets and a wood dining table for 4 people. Windows overlook the front porch. The dining room is also accessed by French doors from the living room. There are separate toilet facilities on this level as well.

Stairs from the entrance hall lead to 2 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. The master bedroom has an ensuite bath and a view of the river in the distance. The second bedroom overlooks the walled terrace and enjoys country views. The bathroom is across the hall. Both bedrooms are nicely decorated with pretty bed covers and curtains, chests and lamps.

Also on this level is a small library and utility room with washing machine and dryer.

A lovely stone house in a charming village near all the sights of the Dordogne.
